Young People

IMMA offers creative experiences for 12-15 year olds and 15-18 year olds which consist of looking, discussing, and making, as well as engaging with IMMA’s exhibitions and Collection, and working with contemporary artists. IMMA runs workshops and events for young people during the summer holidays.

This August, as part of A Fair Land, a new project arising from a collaboration between the IMMA Residency Programme and Grizedale Arts (UK), we have created two extraordinary opportunities for young people.

The Food Power School will have a week dedicated to Teenagers, from Thu 18 - Sat 21 August 2016, where they will learn about harvesting processing and serving the food crated from the glut crop grown at IMMA.The School for Revolutionary Girls is a week-long School where internationally acclaimed artist Suzanne Lacy will work with twenty teenage women to explore their connections with earlier eras as part of a ten-day project. Working with historians, museum staff, students, Irish and US artists, and in association with CREATE, twenty young women between 14-17 years old will participate in an artistic “consciousness-raising” process about the world as it is for them as young women, and as it could be. This live event will be the public culmination of the school with live performances from participants.

Food / Power School
