The Irish Museum of Modern Art works in the present. It collects now for the future, but also seeks to place contemporary art in an appropriate context by buying or accepting loans or donations of earlier work. IMMA collects artworks to keep them in the public domain, and to show them in different kinds of displays. These can be focused on a single artist, thematic or historical.
