Christopher Reid (Ireland)
Chris Reid (Ireland), AWP 2004
Mixed media/installation
Studio 3B, May - September
In grouping separate narratives together Christopher Reid proposes to explore meaning and nuances of the broad words – community and society. Constructing a framework that enables people to speak confidently of their experiences Christopher avoids clichés and stereotypes, he interviews across class, race, religion, nationality, gender, sexuality and finds one subject they all have in common. From the stories collected Christopher then assembles verbal narratives without identity and transforms them into text pieces, mounted in various formats and placed in strategic public areas in order to highlight place and displacement.
