Tim Mara, Power Cuts Imminent, 1975
This exhibition looks at the ways in which visual artists respond to issues and events that have either personal or public significance, and comments on the ways in which artists give expression to a private experience for a public audience. It also deals with the means by which important public events are celebrated visually and how artists and their audience communicate shared experiences through visual representations. These issues are raised initially in the exhibition by the prints of Albrecht D
ü
rer and William Hogarth and are addressed also by artists working today such as Lee Jaffe, Tony O'Malley, Billy Quinn and Ilya Kabakov. back
