The Glen Dimplex Artists Award Exhibition 1999
This Artists’ Award and Exhibition, now in its sixth year, is sponsored by the Irish-based company Glen Dimplex. The £15,000 award is intended to mark a level of achievement in the work and practice of exhibiting artists, of any age, using any medium. This year’s shortlist are Irish Brussels-based artist Orla Barry, whose work encompasses texts, sound and video, Belfast sculptor and installation artist Susan MacWilliam, Japanese photographic artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and British photographic and video artist Catherine Yass.
The award was presented to Catherine Yass on 14 July. Past winners of the award are Alanna O’Kelly (1994), Willie Doherty (1995), Janine Antoni (1996), Paul Seawright (1997) and Siobhán Hapaska (1998).
