Civic Offices, Tullamore, Co Offaly

'Laden' was acquired by IMMA in 1999 and has already been loaned to the Arnolfini in Bristol and has been shown as part of Feile an Phobail, Belfast, facilitated by the National Programme. The exhibition of 'Laden' in the Civic Offices, Tullamore, marks the establishment of an Arts Plan for the building. Like much of O’ Connell’s work this sculpture is made in a ritualistic, labour-intensive manner, with protective spaces within, almost like armour.
A lecture on Eilis O’ Connell’s work will take place during the exhibition.
