Brian Cronin : Fat Face With Fork
This was the first exhibition in Ireland of the Dublin-born illustrator Brian Cronin. Born in 1958, Cronin started his career in 1983 freelancing for The Irish Times and In Dublin. He moved to New York in 1985, where he has worked as an illustrator for numerous publications and magazines including Time, The Washington Post and Cosmopolitan.
The exhibition spanned Cronin's career to date from his first illustration to a body of published commissioned illustrations and recent non-commissioned large-scale drawings. The show also included sketches, drawings and source material that reveals the process of commercial illustration. Speaking about his work, Cronin says, 'Over the years I have developed an approach that is both personal and communicates to a mass audience. I am always aware of the editorial process and the context in which my drawings appear'.
A full-colour publication with an interview with the artist was published to coincide with the exhibition : price £6.95.
