Royal Hospital Kilmainham
During the summer season 2011, guided tours will run from 7 July to 4 September 2011. Tours commence from the Heritage Exhibition Room at the rear of the reception desk in the entrance hall, each day Wednesday to Saturday at 11:30am, 2.00pm and 4.00pm, and on Sundays at 2.00pm and 4.00pm. There are no tours on Tuesdays. The Museum is Closed on Mondays.
Guided Tours – Admission Free
Guided tours of the magnificent 17th-century Royal Hospital building and grounds, which include the Great Hall and the Baroque Chapel, are available during the summer season.
Tour Times:
Wednesday to Saturday: 11.30am, 2.00pm and 4.00pm
Sundays: 2.00pm and 4.00pm
Tuesdays: No guided tours
Mondays: Closed
Exhibition
A Gift to the Royal Hospitial,
an exhibition of books from the early library of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, presents a selection of 16th, 17th and early 18th-century books from the original library of the Royal Hospital. Including works of religion, history, philosophy, science, medicine and travel, these beautiful volumes are an important part of the buildings early life. The exhibition is included in the summer season guided tours and is open for extended times during National Heritage Week.
Tours are wheelchair accessible. Booking is not required but groups may prebook by telephoning +353-1-612 9970 or email: heritage@imma.ie
The Garden House in the formal gardens of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham is also open to the public during the Summer season. The Garden House is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00am to 5.00pm and on Sundays from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Closed on Mondays.
