National Programme logo, Irish Museum of Modern Art
The National Programme, now in its fifteenth year, is designed to promote the widest possible involvement with the Museum’s Collection and programmes, through creating access opportunities to the visual arts in a variety of situations and locations in Ireland. IMMA’s Collection is the focal point for each project. Reflecting the Museum’s commitment to promoting participation in, and understanding and ownership of the Collection through National Programme projects in locations outside the confines of the Museum itself.
Outsde Inside, 13 March - 7 April, 2006, Áras an Chontae, Tullamore, Co Offaly
The design and implementation of these projects involves an engagement with the various communities, using the Collection as the core resource to evoke a series of different responses in each venue. The National Programme is also committed to working with venues normally outside the scope of the contemporary art world.
Collectors Choice, 5 October - 2 December 2007, High Lanes Gallery, Drogheda, Co Louth This core principle involves a process of encouraging people to view and enjoy ownership of their national collections, as held by IMMA, in their own locality and on their own terms. As a central aim the National Programme is to disseminate the Museum’s core values of excellence, inclusiveness, and accessibility on a national level.
