Screening Series / Yvonne Rainer
Following Yvonne Rainers acclaimed dance performances at IMMA, during the month of July 2018, we celebrate Rainer’s extraordinary contribution to women’s cinema with a weekly screening of some of her most iconic films; Lives of Performers, 1972, MURDER and murder, 1996, and Privilege, 1990.

Screening & Discussion / Muttererde by Jessica Lauren Elizabeth Taylor / Booking Advised
The multi-voice video project Muttererde (2017)is screened at IMMA by Berlin-based, American artist Jessica Lauren Elizabeth Taylor. This film is a key part of Taylor’s current research project, and calls for femme forms of ancestral history in the face of the often-interrupted knowledge of the African diaspora in Europe and elsewhere. Followed by a discussion with the artist, moderated by Dr Zélie Asava.

Salon: Archiving as Resistance, Inherited Identities / Drop In – Limited Places
The salon is modelled after the monthly salon sessions that the artist Jessica Lauren Elizabeth Taylor founded in 2012 called Black in Berlin. Each salon begins with a conversation between Taylor and an invited guest before the discussion is extended to a wider group.

Keynote Lecture & Screening / Helen de Witt : New Directions in Feminist Film
Drawing on IMMAs recent programme featuring the work of pioneering women filmmakers such as Yvonne Rainer, Helen de Witt, curator, advisor BFI London Film Festival discusses new directions in experimental and artists film concentrating on Rainers influence on feminist film practices from the 1970s to present. This talk traces the key themes, narratives and practitioners that have preoccupied this highly influential period in artists cinema and experimental film practice.
