This exhibition will coincide with the 10th anniversary of The Burial of Patrick Ireland (1972-2008), a performance in which Patrick Ireland, the artistic alias adopted by Brian O’Doherty in 1972, was waked and buried at IMMA, in a gesture of celebration of peace in Northern Ireland. According to fellow artist Robert Rauschenberg, Brian O’Doherty/Patrick Ireland was “always a line man” and this display will celebrate his lifelong dedication to drawing, in particular to works related to his interest in the ancient Celtic Ogham script. ...

IMMA is delighted to present the third year of the Hennessy Art Fund for IMMA Collection. In 2016 Hennessy Ireland formed a unique partnership with IMMA to help fund the purchase of important works by Irish and Irish based artists for the National Collection. IMMA is delighted to present a solo exhibition by artist Andrea Geyer. Growing in stature internationally, this is the first time the German-American artist’s work will be shown in Ireland. The exhibition includes a new commission for IMMA of 'Collective Weave (Ireland), an expansive floor-to-ceiling installation of white linen featuring iridescent silver patterns of drawings. The drawings are derived from Irish queer magazines, posters and flyers dating from 1970 to the early 1990s. ...
