This exhibition explores the development of the Museum’s Education and Community Programme for St Michael’s Parish Active Retirement Association , Inchicore, and presents models of practice for museums working with older people. Key works include Ribbons of Life 1993, which feature the personal histories of ten women from the group and A Sense of Place 1996, where the group address the meaning of place over time. This programme has been in operation since 1991 and has explored contemporary arts practice in association with a wide range of artists. This exhibition is the first of a series of events being staged at the Museum as part of International Year of Older Persons 1999.
