Studio 12 and 14 Throughout 2004, a major cultural exchange has been taking place between Ireland and China. This exchange included an exhibition of contemporary art from IMMA’s Collection shown in both Beijing and Shanghai. In addition the artists, John Behan, Amanda Coogan and Caroline McCarthy spent time in China on residencies hosted by the Chinese cultural authorities. In return, IMMA will welcome two of China’s most established painters, Li Xiaoke and Yan Zhenduo, as artists in residence from the end of October. Their residencies will also coincide with a major exhibition Dreaming of the Dragon’s Nation: Contemporary Art from China which opens at IMMA on 27 October.
