Drawing pre-dates language and with clapping, dancing and drumming, is one of our earliest forms of expression. Mark-making engaged the minds of pre historic men and women and it remains vibrantly alive today in the technological era.
In these workshops we will playfully explore different ways of approaching drawing, taking some of the exhibitions as a starting point; from embodied, large scale marks, responding to Frank Bowling’s monumental paintings, to trying our hand at rope drawing, in the fashion of Brian O’Doherty, and finally to more focused and considered observational work, based on the intense scrutiny that Lucian Freud and his subjects experienced. Several locations in the Museum will be the inspiring settings of our work.
These sessions will be facilitated by members of IMMA’s Visitors En-gagement Team. The workshops are open to all ages and skill levels. All materials will be provided.
