Culture Night 2018 at IMMA

Visit IMMA on Culture Night and see a major exhibition, Sunset, Sunrise, by prominent Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaianfor Free. This is a rare opportunity to discover the breathtakingly kaleidoscopic nature of Farmanfarmaian’s work ranging from her mirror sculptures, reverse glass paintings, jewellery, embroidery and sequinned collages, to her new pen and ink drawings fresh from her studio in Iran. There are over 70 works to see which encapsulate Farmanfarmaian’s ability to merge traditional Persian techniques with contemporary Western abstraction.

6.30pm:Take an insightful guided tour of Sunset, Sunrise with Assistant Curator Rachael Gilbourne. Explore Farmanfarmaian’s stunning work ranging from her jewel like mirror sculptures and reverse glass paintings; to her drawings and collages which feature luxurious, shimmering textures of glitter on paper, fabric, crystals, beads and gold leaf.
