28 January  Gallery Tour: The National Gallery of Ireland

A Light in the Darkness Turner's Watercolours & Silhouettes and Miniatures - The Mary A. McNeill Bequest

The National Gallery of Ireland's famous Vaughan collection of watercolours by JMW Turner (1775-1851) will be on display for the month of January. It includes Turner's most striking works in watercolour painted during his later European tours: the Doge's Palace in Venice, Lake Lucerne, and the fortresses at Bellinzona in Switzerland. The exhibition will be complemented by a display of seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth-century silhouettes and miniatures from the Mary A. McNeill Bequest, comprising works by John Comerford, Richard Crosse and William Grimaldi.

14 February - IMMA Members Jorge Pardo Preview Brunch

Members of the Irish Museum of Modern Art are invited to brunch on Sunday 14th February in the Vaults at IMMA, to a private sneak preview of one of the most unusual exhibitions in recent years at IMMA

Cuban-American artist Jorge Pardo brings his first exhibition to Ireland in the form of a wallpaper mural that will occupy the entire East Wing of IMMA. A worldwide first, this is a highly conceptual virtual retrospective of over 100 artworks, installations and projects, with every aspect of the exhibition-right down to the labels and wall texts-incorporated into the wallpaper

15:00pm Concert by The Vogler Quartet of Schubert’s Quintet in C Major

25 February  6pm - Private Opening: Francis Al˙s

Explore the exhibition Le Temp du Sommeil by Belgium artist > arrow linkFrancis Al˙s.

For this exhibition Al˙s presents his on-going series Le Temps du Sommeil which he began in 1996 and currently comprises over a 100 paintings some of which are still works in progress. This work is shown at IMMA before it travels to Tate Modern, where a retrospective of Al˙s work takes place in the summer of 2010.

Sunday 28 March    11.45am - Members Sneak Preview of Vertical Thoughts: Morton Feldman and the Visual Arts

Members of the Irish Museum of Modern Art are invited to a sneak preview brunch in the Chapel on Sunday 28 March to celebrate one of IMMA’s most anticipated exhibitions of the year.

Vertical Thoughts: Morton Feldman and the Visual Arts
Born in New York City in 1926, Morton Feldman is widely considered to be one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. During his long career he was closely associated with a number of visual artists – particularly those connected with the New York School. Vertical Thoughts is a remarkable exhibition of music scores, record covers, photographs, documents, and works by Francesco Clemente, Willem de Kooning, Philip Guston, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, R.B. Kitaj, Franz Kline, Piet Mondrian, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenberg, Ad Reinhardt, Mark Rothko and Cy Twombly.
